SAAM SMIT Canada is seeking Deckhands with barge handling experience to work on a project servicing a dredging contract in Kitimat, BC until March of 2020.
The position will perform shift work supporting the dredging and site preparation for an LNG export terminal. The tour of duty will be either a 7 day or 14 day rotation. Accommodation and lodging will be provided during each tour of duty. Persons residing outside of Kitimat will be given air transportation within British Columbia.


• Valid Marine Emergency Duties (MED) Certificates
• Current Marine Medical
• Current Marine Basic First Aid

Preference will be given to those candidates holding either a Bridge Watch Rating Certificate, or the Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO) certificate. It is also desirable for candidates to have experience working around marine construction and dredging projects.
To gain site access, candidates are required to participate in a pre-employment medical, which includes drug and alcohol screening.
Successful candidates must be or become a member in good standing with the International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 400.
